The Prospect of Wind Power in China

China consumes 10% of the world's total energy (power). 70 per cent of its primary energy consumption was coal. This is 40% higher than the world average.

The SO2 pollution caused by coal burning accounted for 70% to 80% of the total emission amount. Furthermore, the acid rain triggered by SO2 covers 1/3 of the entire area of China.

The quality of the environment in China is continuously deteriorating. By the end of 2020 the environmental and health losses of China caused by air pollution will reach 13% of the total GDP value. Therefore, the development of clean energy (green energy, alternative energy) has become the inevitable choice of China’s energy strategy. In fact the Chinese government has annouced a lot of policies about clean energy (green energy, alternative energy, renewable energy) and will plan to stimulate the development of clean energy. These include laws about green energy, subsidies for clean energy. For example, China Solar Subsidies -- “Golden Sun” subsidies , Carrot for solar power development offered by China government .

Wind power (wind energy), compared with conventional energy, is sustainable and is a form of clean energy (green power). Generating power from the wind does not require the burning of fossil fuels; hence, there is no risk of a fuel price rise.

Additionally, there are no environmental costs, such as carbon emissions.

Wind Power Potential Is Much Higher Than Current Estimates

According to a Harvard University study, global wind energy (wind power) potential is considerably higher than previous estimates by both wind industry groups and government agencies.

Using data from thousands of meteorological stations, the Harvard University team estimated that the world potential of wind power (wind energy) to be 40 times greater than total current power consumption. The interesting fact is that the previous study cited in the paper put that multiple at about 7 times.

Remote regions of Russia and Canada have the greatest theoretical potential. And also there are real gains to be made in high-emission nations, especially China, which has been rapidly constructing coal plants. “Large-scale development of wind power (wind energy) in China could allow for an 18-fold increase in electricity supply relative to consumption reported for 2005,” the Harvard University study shows.

the market of solar energy

As investors, you're obviously at least aware of the now ubiquitous solar market. But simply being aware of it is no longer enough. Do you know? For solar power, this industry-predicted to grow is as much as 35% annually for the next few years. I think you will be interested in really making money in this solar energy market.

There is good news. Solar electricity generating capacity has on average doubled every two years since 1998.

Below is the chart for solar power (solar energy) worldwide these years.

the bright future of green energy

How do you think the future of green energy (renewable energy, alternative energy)? Is it bright, or dim? Maybe you have many factors to think before you answer this question.

But do you know? Energy demand of our world will increase 58% over the next 25 years. Trillions will be spent to secure the world's energy supply.

Being aware of this huge energy demand, will help you to answer this question. And the huge energy demand of our world will absolutely make the future of green energy (renewable energy, alternative energy) brighter than ever!

China Solar Subsidies -- “Golden Sun” subsidies announced

We all know in 2008 the companies in the solar energy industry suffer the ache from the global financial crisis. Some companies closed a few production line of solar power. This is even worse in China. Nowadays China has played an important role in the field of solar energy. But the government of China has tried to stimulate the solar energy industry.

Chinese government started the “Golden Sun” subsidies  on Jul 21, 2009 to provide subsidies to solar-power projects, to boost the solar industry as a new growth point for the country’s economy.

Solar Water Heating with Solar Panel

The Ministry of Finance of China said on its website that it will offer 50 percent of investments for solar power projects of more than 500 megawatts (mw), and the transmission and distribution network over the next 2 - 3 years.

The solar power projects in the remote regions of China that are not connected to the electricity grid will receive subsidies of 70 percent of the investment.

Potential of Geothermal power in the world

We show potential of geothermal power in the world below.

If heat recovered by ground source heat pumps is included, the non-electric generating capacity of geothermal power (geothermal energy) is estimated at more than 100 GW (gigawatts of thermal power). This geothermal power is used commercially in over 70 countries.

During 2005, contracts of utilizing geothermal energy were placed for an additional 0.5 GW (gigawatts) of capacity in the United States, while there were also plants, which are under construction in 11 other countries.

Estimates of exploitable worldwide geothermal energy resources vary considerably. According to a study of 1999, it was thought that this might amount to between 65 and 138 GW of electrical generation capacity 'using enhanced technology'.

Disadvantages of Geothermal power

As one kind of alternative energy, geothermal power has many advantages such as requires no fuel, and is therefore virtually emissions free and insusceptible to fluctuations in fuel cost. Read this articles for more advantages and details of geothermal power. There are a few disadvantages of geothermal power.

Geothermal power

From the perspective of engineering, the geothermal fluid is corrosive and, worse, is at a low temperature, compared to steam from boilers. And by the laws of thermodynamics this low temperature of the geothermal fluid limits the efficiency of heat engines in extracting useful energy during the generation of electricity. Much of the heat energy is lost, unless there is also a local use for low-temperature heat, such as greenhouses, timber mills, and district heating.

Investment on Wind Energy in China

The development of wind energy in China has been put on the fast road. Many companies have focused on wind energy. Much money has been invested on the project of wind energy (wind power). Is it good news? is it a miracle for green energy (alternative energy)? or just an investment bubble on wind power?

The western areas of China, such as Gansu, Inner Mongolia is rich for the resource of wind energy. Meanwhile, these areas are poor. If these investment on wind energy in these poor areas is just to develop the green energy (renewable energy, alternative energy), not an investment bubble, surely, it will stimulate the development of these areas and will bring many benefits to the people living in those areas, such as solving the employment, making them richer (or exactly not so poor).

Advantages of Geothermal power

Advantages of Geothermal power

Geothermal power requires no fuel, and is therefore virtually emissions free and insusceptible to fluctuations in fuel cost.

And because the geothermal power station doesn't rely on transient sources of energy, unlike, for example, wind turbines or solar panels, its capacity factor can be quite large; almost up to 90% in practice.

Geothermal power (geothermal energy) is considered to be sustainable because the heat extraction is small compared to the size of the heat reservoir.

Geothermal has minimal land use requirements.
