The market of eco automobiles

The whole automobile industry searched for a solution to overcome the economic and environmental crisis. More and more players in the market of automobiles are seeking the eco-friendly cars. Eco friendly cars use electricity; green fuel like ethanol, e-85 and biodiesel; solar power; hybrid motors and even natural gas to power itself. The eco-friendly automobiles may be hybrid electric vehicle (HEV), electric vehicle, or other eco-friendly ones.

Fiat Automobiles may be a great player in the market of eco automobiles. :-) Fiat Automobiles is regarded as the leader in Europe for developing eco automobiles. Fiat emerges as one favorite choice among used car buyers who wish to keep an eye on their budget and yet want the equally eco-friendly car.

With this in mind, and in order to protect our environment, automobile manufacturers in the world have raced to the drawing boards anxious to roll out their version of the green machines.

This year in Detroit Auto Show, automobile manufacturers brought some eco-friendly vehicles. In fact in Detroit Auto Show 2010, Electric Avenue is opened, just for electric vehicles.

We may know Toyota Prius. It's so popular in the world. As the current leader in hybrid technology, Toyota has released a beautiful FT-CH concept, which is a full hybrid and is being tauted as a cheaper, younger, and smaller version of the Prius.

How Hydropower Plants Work

Worldwide, hydropower plants (hydroelectric plants, Hydro plants), as one renewable energy (green energy, alternative power) source, produce about 24% of the world's electricity, supply more than one billion people with energy. The world's hydropower plants (hydroelectric plants, Hydro plants) output a combined total of 675,000 MW, the energy equivalent of 3.6 billion barrels of oil, according to the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. In fact there are more than 2,000 hydro power plants, which are operating, in the United States, making hydropower the country's largest renewable power source.

How do hydropower plants work? Hydropower plants (hydroelectric plants, Hydro plants) uses the force of moving water to make electricity. A typical hydro power plant is a system with three parts:

1. an electric plant where the electricity is produced.
2. a dam that can be opened or closed to control the water flow.
3. a reservoir (artificial lake) where water can be stored.

The sales of solar power panel were 5.6GW in 2008, which is up 48 percent. In 2008 3.3GW or 60% solar panel sales was produced in Asia. And about 1.5GW solar energy panel sales was produced in Europe. Only 750MW solar power panel sales was produced in the United States.

There's one revolutionary advancement for the development of solar energy. Caltech (California Institute of Technology) researchers claim they have developed a solar cell that is twice as efficient as conventional solar wafers and that could be much cheaper to make.

Using silicon-wire arrays, Caltech researchers claim they can trap up to 96 percent of incident sunlight at a single wavelength and up to 85 per cent of the collectible sunlight, then convert between 90 and 100 percent of it into electrons, aka electricity, surpassing previous optical microstructures developed to trap light. As we know conventional photovoltaic (PV) cells convert about 40% of the sunlight they absorb into electricity.

Solar energy will play a big role in Africa

Solar energy is a kind of cheap energy source for Africa, clean, green, free, without pollution or damage to the environment.

Electrifying the rural areas poses great challenges for African governments. Remote and scattered, rural homes, which are unlike homes in the urban areas, are costly and often impractical to connect to the main electricity grid. But stand-alone sources of power, such as solar energy, wind energy and power from mini-hydro generators, can help to fill the gap of remote and scattered, rural homes. In Africa solar power, which is clean and renewable, fits the demands.

The sun is free and inexhaustible.
