the hydropower resources in China
Chinese government is prioritizing hydropower in the new energy (green energy) agenda because the technology is mature. And China has relatively rich experience in this area, along with a fairly well developed domestic industry.
China is with large reserves of this clean and renewable energy source: hydropower.
Exploitable hydroelectric resources in China stands at 378 million kilowatts, equivalent to annual power supply of 1.92 trillion kwh. The exploitable hydroelectric resources in China top the world and make up 16.7% of the world's total.

Tibet has many rivers and is rich in hydropower resources. The theoretical potential of hydropower resources in Tibet Autonomous Region is 176.4 GW, technically exploitable capacity 110 GW, and technically exploitable annual power output 576 billion kWh. And in terms of geographical distribution, hydropower resources in Tibet mainly distribute in Southern Tibet.
China powerful water resources are concentrated mainly in the largely underdeveloped west, at the upper-reach and mid-reaches of large rivers. Three provincial regions of China, Sichuan, Tibet, and Yunnan, account for more than two thirds of the nation's water power resources.
