Renewable Energy and Sustainable Development
Renewable energy is well connected with sustainable development because of its nature.
Renewable energy (green energy, clean energy) is the energy that is converted from renewable power sources predominantly for electricity generation.
Renewable power sources are naturally replenished and are not depleted by use, unlike conventional fossil fuel resources.
Geothermal, wave, tidal, ocean current, hydro, wind, solar, and biomass are the most common renewable resources used in our life to generate renewable energy (sustainable energy).
Increasing levels of energy-related environmental degradation in both industrialized and developing countries have led to recognizing the need for improved energy options for sustainable development. In fact environmental and social concerns must be incorporated early at the regional and sectoral planning stages in order to ensure sustainable development. The important role is the concern about green energy (also called sustainable energy).
Through using sustainable energy, such as geothermal power, wave power, tidal energy, ocean current energt, hydro power, solar energy, the pressure of energy-related environmental degradation will be lessened. Global warming, acid rain may not be our daily topics. To sum up, to pay more on renewable energy, we will achieve sustainable development easier.
