Problems and Risks of rural hydropower in China (2)
Although the resources of rural hydropower of China are very abundant, there are some problems and risks of rural hydropower in China. As a green energy (renewable energy), the rural hydro power is fit for countryside, farmer organizations and private sectors.
Below is 3 remaining problems and risks of rural hydro power in China:
4) With the steady advancement of power sector reform, separation between transmission and distribution is not listed in the country's agenda, and the monopoly of grid still needs decentralizing.
Some hydropower stations can generate but are not allowed to do so, some are allowed to generating but is not accepted by the grid. These phenomena still exist in some areas.
5) Although the State Council has issued the new power price policy, the exact new power price mechanism still needs time to be established.
This problem is not solved, the development of hydro power will be clagged.
6) Legislation of rural hydro power is far behind. Regulation on Rural Hydro power has not been enacted. There is no legislation support on the development of renewables so far.
Although these problems and risks exist, as a kind of clean energy, China pay more attention to hydropower for the thirst of energy.
