Load Characteristic of AC Induction Motor: Variable Torque, Variable Speed Loads


In real applications of AC Induction Motor, various kinds of loads exist with different torque-speed curves. Below we explore this type:  Variable Torque, Variable Speed Loads. This type is variable torque.

This is most commonly found in the industry and sometimes is known as a quadratic torque load. The variable torque is the square of the speed, while the power is the cube of the speed. This is the typical torque-speed characteristic of a fan or a pump.
