In-depth Understanding on Constant Pressure and Variable Frequency Drive Well Systems (part 2)

Now with this VFD (AC drive) system you still utilize a torque arrestor to try and hold the pump in place in the well and you would still use wire guides but that feature practically eliminates those well concerns. The AC Drive (VFD, frequency inverter) unit can utilize a smaller pressure tank, which means reduced replacement costs but no worries it can also utilize the larger tanks that you already have in line. These drive units have built in diagnostics flashing you a series of codes to tell well technicians exactly what the system malfunction is.

And variable frequency drives (VFDs, AC drives) have built in surge protection which include high/ low voltage surges as well as Lightning surges in an effort to prevent electrical burn outs. The pumps speed is controlled to provide optimum performance without overloading the motor making for a longer lasting system.

The point of a variable frequency water well drive unit is to increase the longevity of the water well pumping system. It decreases the pumps running time which would result in energy savings depending on usage.
